Second Copy

No matter what type of data a computer user has stored on his hard disk, it's always a good idea to back up all this information. If that data is of big importance, then backing up is compulsory. Because you can never know when disaster strikes and you end up without all your information. The Windows operating system includes a feature for backing up an entire partition but not for backing up certain files and folders. Besides that, this feature lacks a lot of options and doesn't please the majority of users. There is an alternative to this and that's the Second Copy application. As its name states, the software can save a second copy of every important file and folder in a different location than the original one and can perform this operation on a regular basis, without the user's intervention.

The software can run in Windows XP up to 7 and it's very easy to install, requiring only a few clicks for this. It takes up about 7 MB of hard disk space, being ideal for older computers with smaller hard disks.

The interface of Second Copy is basically wizard based and the user just needs to point to the source and the destination file, select the time when the backup will take place and that's pretty much it. Advanced users can use the advanced wizard, which allows making many more changes to the backup process, like selecting only certain file types to be copied and so on.

Besides allowing the user to copy his files and folders locally, the program also allows copying files to and from a FTP server on a regular basis. This way, one can be sure that all his personal information is safe even if the hard disk breaks down. All the backup tasks will be displayed as a list in the program's interface, allowing the user to quickly see when the next backup action will be performed.
